Fethiye, South West Turkey

Fethiye lies in a natural harbour of the famous Turquoise Coast of South West Turkey. The province or state is Mugla which is also the name of the state capital.

The main airport serving Fethiye is DALAMAN, about one hours drive away. Fethiye is known to be less commercialised than Bodrum or Marmaris to the west. Further East is Kas and Kalkan and the next major port (about 3.5-4 hours away by car) is Antalya which also has an International Airport with scheduled flights from the UK and Europe. Istanbul is a 12 hour drive and Ankara about 10 hours. The thriving town of Fethiye is characterised by its past:a Crusader castle, Lycian amphitheatre and Lycian Rock Tombs.

There are excellent health spa and beauty treatments available providing the highest quality of comfort and service at a fraction of UK prices.

In addition, local Hammams (Turkish Baths) offer a popular method of de-stressing. Modern supermarkets, and stores can supply essentials but for one truly memorable shopping experience, Fethiye's twice weekly traditional markets offer the best of the areas fresh produce and merchandise. A great place for a bargain.

Fethiye's atmospheric Bazaar is buzzing well after midnight. Designer boutiques sit amongst night clubs and there are some excellent restaurants specialising in freshly caught local fish or traditional Turkish Cuisine. The Herb and Fish markets are also well worth a visit any time of day.

To explore the coast and islands around Fethiye and Olu Deniz, the marina offers a range of boat trips. Its rarely necessary to book and these trips are a very popular way to explore this fabulous Turquiose coast with its many hidden treasures.
