Archaeology - Exploring Historical Sites

Diversity abounds on the crossroads between Europe and Asia – Turkey, for thousands of years hosted settlers and travelers from all nationalities, races and beliefs.
Not surprising then that Judaism, Christianity and Islam all developed within modern Turkey’s borders. In Asia Minor, 2000 years ago, Christians traveled among the local populations who worshipped the local gods of Greek and Roman myths. Moreover, here Christianity expanded to become the Roman religion in the late 4th Century AD.

In many parts of Turkey, Biblical scenes are still very visible, both in the sites and in customs of the people. From the Ark settling on Mt. Ararat to Abraham’s challenge by God through to St Paul’s letters to the Ephesians and travels around the area, or St. John’s letters to the Seven Churches, all located in Western Turkey (Anatolia), Biblical history abounds.

Close to our own villas, St Nicholas (Santa Claus) preached and his legacy is still there unspoiled by commercialization, in fact, you will have to ask someone to find his church.
Further away is Cappadocia where Christians sought refuge from persecution in the strange and wonderful underground system.

Just a short drive from our villas there are more sites than you can visit in a very full week. All these sacred and important places are yours to explore. Forget the crowds of Italy and Greece, on most days you will be almost alone. Whatever your reasons for a visit, inevitably, you will feel the spiritual origins of this special and unique part of the world which has helped shape the religions and laws that we all live by every day.

Not only are we fortunate to be based here, we are fortunate to be able to share it with you. For a memorable holiday, one which over 70% of our guests return to at least once, call us soon 07811 216928

We arrange bespoke tours for groups from 4-30 people. Specific Itineries are flexible and available on request.

Istanbul is the designated European Capital of Culture in 2010.
Book now - a Special Two-Centre holiday 2010.

Closer to becoming firmly part of Europe, Istanbul’s unique and facinating cultural heritage will be celebrated throughout 2010. Already a popular destination for visitors, the special events, concerts and exhibitions will make this facinating city a “must” for art and music lovers as well as historians, achaeologists and photographers.

There is no other city in the world that has been the capital of three major empires and two major religions. Being at the crossroads and the junction of two continents the city has always been prosperous not only economically but also in all kinds of science and arts: it has always attracted the leading artists of the time.

By booking now, before the full programme has been announced,
we have already negotiated a great deal with our friends in Istanbul for superb hotel accommodation in Sultanamet, the centre of the old city, perfect for all the cultural festivities - 90% of which will be within walking distance of the accommodation.
We offer Half Board/ B&B/ Full Board accommodation and/or a selection of recommendations for the very best restaurants in this wonderful city.

Not just a summer holiday! The whole year will be celebrated. We are not restricted to the “high season” recommending the very best times to visit being Spring and Autumn when the weather is perfect but the travelling population is less intrusive.

An official guide is available at extra cost for up to three days. Our guides are knowlegable locals with excellent English, assured of making your visit a more fulfilling experience. Hospitality is second to none in Turkey and we offer the highest level of personal service possible. A local person enables you to find those features of the City that most tourists may walk past and later regret that they have missed.

Most of Istanbul is accessible on foot. You may find a short voyage on the Bosphorus a time when you can literally soak up the fascinating history of what is probably the most dynamic political and geographical borders in the whole world.
There will be many concerts and cultural events. We will supply you with a full a list of these events, together with a “how to” guide outlining the free celebrations or how to buy tickets to the world class exhibitions and concerts as soon as details are released by the organisers.

All this is just a start your holiday.

After the cultural immersion you may want to cool off relaxing near the warm sea of the South Aegean.
We live in Kaya Koy, a small rural village near Fethiye, about an hours flight time from Istanbul where we have five gorgeous stone villas of our own and lots of alternative accommodation. We will collect you from Dalaman in luxury and whisk you to your villa where our friendly staff will welcome you. Here you can relax beneath the abandoned village highlighted by Louis de Bernierres in “Birds Without Wings” where the sunsets bathe the stone houses, full of memories and a thousand stories, while you gaze from your balcony sipping your evening apperitif. You can swim in our fabulous pool or massage your tan in the jaccuzi, or if the mood has gripped you, explore the surrounding area steeped in ancient layers of civilization.

This is a two centre holiday that you can design yourself before you go or ask us to put together an itinerary to please your needs. All you need to do is talk to us.

We offer the best value. A similar holiday through large companies will be priced per person, for a family of four easily cost in excess of £8000.00

We are a small family based in Turkey. There are no admin staff to pay. We pride ourselves that we can offer you a personal highly experienced service. The final price of your holiday will depend on your particular plan.
Give us a call and we will research all the possibilities and call you back.
